Tyler Endorses Joe Courtney For Congress

Today, Tom Tyler endorsed Joe Courtney for Congress in Connecticut’s Second District. First elected to Congress in 2006, Courtney currently serves as the Ranking Member of the Seapower and Projection Forces Subcommittee within the House Armed Servies Committee. Prior to arriving to Congress, Courtney served as a Connecticut State Representative from 1987 to 1999. While in the state legislature, Courtney chaired the Public Health and Human Services Committees. A graduate of Providence College and University of Connecticut School of Law, Courtney served as a Connecticut Public Defender, an attorney in private practice and as Town Attorney for his hometown of Vernon, Connecticut.

Tyler chose to endorse Courtney due to his commitment to helping Enfield and his efforts to defend our nation by making our military readiness the best it possibly can be. Reflecting back, Tyler noted the strong constituent services support that has continuously come out of Courtney’s Enfield office. This includes countless situations where Joe’s right hand assistant, Enfield’s own Karen Weseliza, led staff in Courtney’s Enfield office, working collaboratively with members of Enfield’s state legislative delegation to solve important and difficult constituent problems for town residents, irrespective of political affiliation. Tyler also pointed to Courtney’s crucial role getting necessary Federal funding to support the upcoming construction of a train station in Thompsonville for the Hartford Line commuter rail system, coupled with Joe Courtney’s work to get Federal funding for the Enfield Manor housing facility on Enfield Terrace. Joe’s tireless work bringing submarine contracts to Groton strengthens Connecticut economically. Moreover, realizing that there is strength in improving global alliances, Joe also encouraged submarine contracts for Australia to increase military security in the Indo Pacific area of operation as a strategic deterrent to China.

“From the first day he showed up in Enfield in 2001 to re-introduce himself as Congressional candidate, Joe has been committed to the people Enfield,” said Tyler. “This commitment has even grown stronger through the years. The results speak for themselves, with help from the exceptional Karen Weseliza and his talented staff, Joe has tangibly improved the quality of life for our residents, and he will continue to do so as our Representative in Congress. Our nation needs him on the Seapower Subcommittee. It doesn’t matter whether he’s the chair or ranking member of that committee. Joe is such an effective bipartisan advocate that he gets the job done regardless of whether his party is in the majority or the minority. Always humble and engaged, there is no better advocate for Enfield in Congress than ‘Two Sub Joe.’”

NOTE # 1: This endorsement decision was made solely by Tom Tyler and was not solicited by Joe Courtney nor by anyone on behalf of Joe or his campaign.

NOTE # 2:Early voting runs from October 19th to November 1st at Enfield Town Hall. Election Day is Tuesday, November 3rd. For more information about Joe, visit www.joecourtney.com.
